Home Learning

What is the procedure for reading at home?

  • From Monday to Thursday each week, the children will bring home their reading folders, with their reading logs and a book inside. They can read their book at home with you, and return them into their reading folders and back to school the following morning. Each night a new book will be added to the reading folder, so by Thursday, your child will have four books in his or her reading folder, with the idea being that the children will be gaining 'reading mileage' by reading and rereading these familiar texts.
  • Each Friday, all the books in the children's reading folders will be returned to the resource room by their teacher.
  • Please refer to your copy of Home Reading Information for further details (received at learning conferences or Headstart), or see your child's class teacher for more information. There are copies of this handout on the Parent Noticeboard in Hub 10 and 11.
